One of the important centers of Shia poetry in the 8th and 9th (Hijri) centuries was located in the lands of ancient Qohistan. Greater Qohistan and its provinces have long been the seat and origin of Shia thought. The emergence of the Ismailis and the establishment of a base in Qohistan after Alamut played a significant role in the expansion of Shiiteism in this period. The impressive volume of Shia poetry and the number of Shiite poets in this region have made Qohistan the center of Shiite poetry in the west of Greater Khorasan. The praise and veneration of the Holy Prophet and the Imams , which began in the 8th century, reached its peak in the 9th century. The emergence of various literary genres that have no parallel in literary history is one of the characteristics of this literary center. The development of Shia poetry has been divided into three periods: the beginning, the period of the formation of Shiite literature, and the period of consolidation. The climatology of Shiite poetry can help understand how it was formed and developed in different periods of literary history.
