Recognizing pre-Islamic customs in the culture of the people of Ivan province

Abstract

Customs include ways of life, special habits of a nation or community and are left as a legacy from the past. This research, which is a type of qualitative study, tries to represent the customs and rituals that survived before Islam in the public culture of Ivan city with the library and field method. The sampling method was snowball, which investigated the customs of the people of Ivan in its eight villages using a semi-structured interview. The results of the research, which was conducted over five months, show that some customs and beliefs common in Ivan are the continuation of the same customs before Islam, and these can be divided into eight sections: customs related to He categorized marriage, birth, death and burial, agriculture and farming, animals, peace, war and non-observance of moral matters, among which customs related to death and burial are reflected more than other sectors. Because the belief in life after death and the belief in the influence of the dead in the lives of the survivors and the effort to gain their satisfaction were of special importance in the belief of the ancient people, and for this reason this part of customs has been transferred to the next generations. It has remained in the culture of Ivan people.
