Religious poetry is fundamentally centered on the expression of faith, with each poet developing a distinctive style. This article, using a descriptive-analytical approach, examines the techniques employed by Ibn Husam Khusfi in seven-colored virtues, composed in praise of Imam Zaman (may Allah hasten his reappearance). The study analyzes the poet’s choice of the seven-stanza tarkīb-band form and the aesthetic and semantic features of each stanza. The findings indicate that the poet deliberately selected the seven-stanza form to convey profound devotion to Imam Zaman, assigning each stanza a specific color as its radīf (refrain): white, red, yellow, green, azure, violet and black. Ibn Husam employs a rich repertoire of literary devices, including alliteration, repetition, paronomasia, metaphor, metonymy, simile, personification, allusion, paradox and antithesis to highlight key themes: the Imam’s illuminating presence, religious glorification, resistance against injustice, continuity of the Prophet’s and Imams’ path, the struggle against evil, and the poet’s supplication for intercession. Ibn Husam, through defamiliarization, creative rule-breaking, and artistic invention, masterfully employs color symbolism and rhetorical devices, transforming his poetry into a passionate expression of faith, hope, and revolutionary spirit.
