Ta'zieh is an Iranian-Shiite ritual that dramatizes the events in the lives of prominent religious figures. Ta'zieh performances have primarily been dedicated to portraying incidents related to Ashura and Imam Hussein; however, in the process of Ta'zieh's expansion, historical events concerning other prophets, imams, descendants of imams, companions, scholars, and kings have gradually been incorporated into the repertoire. Nonetheless, the central axis of all these performances remains the event of Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS). In this context, Ta'zieh performers have devoted particular attention to the life and character of Hazrat Ali (AS), adapting numerous plays from his biography. Alavid Ta'zieh performances can be categorized and analyzed from three perspectives: 1. Thematic; 2. Temporal; 3. Characterological. In this study, various classifications pertaining to Alavid Ta'zieh performances are analyzed and examined, thereby elucidating why Ta'zieh performers have emphasized certain aspects of His Holiness's life while neglecting others. Furthermore, the connection between the content of Alavid Ta'zieh performances and Shiite culture is explored.
