Double instruments, as their name suggests, consist of two instruments of approximately the same shape and size. The main functions of these instruments are to produce high- and low-pitched voices from an instrument simultaneously. It has long been customary to consider one of them as male and the other as female. This article suppose that the forms of doubled instruments are based on the Creation Myth. It is also using Levi-Strauss's theory of binary oppositions, to find the relationship between men and women in ancient times. The findings indicate that this group of instruments are most commonly performed in festivity. Their acoustic analysis also shows that in Douzala, Jouzalei-Mashka and Tamira, relative superiority is with the female part of the instrument, and in the Dou-Tapla it is with the male part. Considering that there is no permanent superiority of the male over the female and vice versa in any of the instruments, it is inferred that the position of men and women in society was also the same. This article is using a descriptive-analytical method and the information was collected with library method.
