Despite Afghanistan's rich history of manuscript production and its vast written heritage, no precise statistics exist regarding its holdings. However, individual research frequently uncovers valuable and rare manuscripts unrecorded in personal or state catalogues, necessitating scholarly study and introduction. One such newly discovered manuscript is a bayaḍ (miscellany) by an unknown ritual poet, Sayyid Mirza Husain Musawi, transcribed in the Daikundi province during the first half of the 14th century AH (c. 1920s-1940s CE). This manuscript has had a tumultuous journey; years ago, it was transferred from Afghanistan to Iran, passing through several hands. Fortunately, this unknown manuscript was obtained and is analyzed here using a descriptive-analytical method. The study first introduces the codex and then identifies and highlights its inherent values. Upon examination, it was evident the manuscript had not been preserved in optimal conditions, resulting in lacunae. The work demonstrates the literary evolution and continuity of the Persian poetic tradition in the central regions of Afghanistan. Its aesthetic features reflect the poet's literary taste. Linguistically, it is rich in dialectal words and local expressions alongside Arabic vocabulary. This article explores these characteristics and variations, showing that the manuscript's dialect differs from other linguistic areas, with specific local diachronic vocabulary, colloquial language, and environmental influences shaping the poet's language.
